Red wine and pear cake

This is a fruity cake. I had some well ripen pears and instead of eating them fresh I wanted to throw them in a cake. I have added some chocolate to be more fancy and here it is!

Ingredients:
  • 200g butter (melted)
  • 4 eggs
  • 110ml red wine
  • 250g all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 20g fresh yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
  • 100g sugar
  • 60g chocolate (chopped or grated) or chocolate chips
  • 3 ripe pears cut in quarters (skin and core removed)

Directions:
  1.  Mix eggs, with flour and butter.
  2. Add wine, cinnamon, sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder and yeast.
  3. In the end, add the chocolate.
  4. At this moment, let the batter stand at room temperature for one hour. If you prefer to make it quicker, then replace the yeast with another tablespoon of baking powder and mix well the entire composition.
  5. Pour the batter in a cake pan.
  6. Decorate the cake with the pear quarters. You can put another slice of pear in the middle. My pears fell down at the bottom of the cake during the baking. Maybe yours will not :)
  7. Cook in the preheated oven at 180ºC for 1 hour.
  8. Let the cake cool at least half an hour before removing the cake from the pan.
