Meatballs

I love meatballs but in the Romanian cuisine they are better known as fried and this is not necessarily the most healthiest. So I had to find a way to eat meatballs without frying them. The solution was to bake them in the oven. Instead of absorbing oil, in the oven they release the extra fat and the result is for sure healthier.

Ingredients:
  • 1 kg hashed meat (calf and pork mixed)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 big potatoes
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • one hand of parsley
  • 2 teaspoons of thyme or dill (preferably dill)
  • 1 teaspoon salt

 Directions:
  1. Grate the potatoes, onions and garlic with a manual razor or an electric one.
  2. Cut finely the parsley.
  3. Mix the meat with the egg, the vegetables and with the thyme/dill.
  4. Shape the balls with your hands at a size of an apricot and lay them on a tray with silicon sheet.
  5. Bake the meatballs in the oven, turning them upside down after half hour.
I let you imagine how my food photography sessions are going by showing you how it looks after:
