Pickles

A recipe for winter, that maybe any housewife tried in Romania. Mmmm and they are so tasty near a stake ...

Ingredients (for 8 jars of 1.5l):
  • 7l water
  • 1l vinegar
  • pepper seeds
  • bay leaves
  • 8 tablespoons sea salt (coarse)
  • 8 tablespoons sugar
  • 5 cauliflower
  • 1kg carrots
  • green celery
  • half celery root
  • 2 horseradishes
  • mustard seeds (1 teaspoon / jar)
  • dill

Directions:
  1. Mix the water, vinegar, pepper, bay leaves, salt and sugar and put them to simmer.
  2. Take out the bay leaves and pepper seeds and let the liquid cool for 10 minutes.
  3. Arrange the vegetables in jars to use as much space as possible.
  4. Add  mustard seeds and dill in each jar.
  5. Put the jars on metal (pots, knives etc) to avoid cracking when you pour the hot liquid prepared earlier over the vegetables in jars.
  6. Let them cool until next day and close the lids before deposit them in your cool pantry.
They are ready to eat in 1 month.
